IntelliCasa is very proud to announce that it keeps expanding its global presence by having completed yet another job in the Far East located at Taikoo Shing Estate that offers a new and inspiring environment for multinationals in east Hong Kong Island. During the pandemic restrictions and rigorous lockdowns globally, the biggest challenge has been managing this project remotely from the UK IntelliCasa headquarters using the advantages of online smart home technology.
Our engineers planned and installed remotely a complete smart home automation Crestron solution for a client living in one of the most luxurious areas of Hong Kong. More specifically, the system installed was for a two-bedroom apartment comprising of lighting controls, automated blinds, AV, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and custom controls throughout.
The main challenge was to offer to the customer the same level of quality and seamless operation of the smart home system that clients receive in the UK, whilst adjusting to the cultural differences and aesthetics of the foreign country. All this was done through the internet and remote training of local subcontractors via zoom since the pandemic restrictions did not allow for frequent visits to Hong Kong and not only did this reduce expenses for the customer but also our team managed to deliver the same quality that would enjoy by our physical presence.
Another aspect of this project was to conform with the local national guidelines regarding electrical installations and the local architect’s requirements as well as to overcome any barriers in communication due to foreign language limitations. All system components were first programmed and tested in the UK and then dispatched to Hong Kong for integration to the home automation system followed by extensive testing on-site done remotely through the internet.
IntelliCasa installed the powerful Crestron CP4-R Series 4 controller, which provides a secure, high-performance, rack-mountable interface for use with the Crestron Home ™ operating system and delivers exceptional speed and performance. Crestron Home unlocks the full potential of a smart home with the ability to offer a simple and clean user interface that includes sophisticated page layouts; fluid dynamic room controls and symbols; and new features including multi-home support, favourites, personalized access, room image customization, and more.
Moreover, the Crestron DM‑NAX, a next-generation Audio‑over‑IP (AoIP) amplifier was installed in the apartment that enables complete freedom to stream different content in every room. The set also included two TSW-1070 Crestron 10.1 in. Wall Mount touch panels for the user to interact seamlessly with the system, nine Crestron Cameo C2NI-CB lighting keypads that offer extensive control capability in a single-gang with customised engraved buttons, two pairs of Saros IC6T 2-Way In-Ceiling speakers in each of the rooms designed to deliver excellent speech intelligibility and full, rich music reproduction and also roller blinds set up if in the future the client wants to add it.
The system was also connected to the building management system allowing the client to communicate directly with the building and have complete control over HVAC. IntelliCasa also installed a Pioneer amplifier and a high definition 8K, 70’ inches Samsung TV on the wall.
The installation terminated successfully and the client was highly satisfied with the results. All the SMART home automation system was designed by IntelliCasa UK. A local technical team appointed by the UK mother company proceeded with the installation of wiring and components following rigorous training. This SMART home apartment in Hong Kong was one of the biggest challenges for IntelliCasa as of today. Our specialist team worked on a daily basis with professionals and clients of the foreign country in their native language and always made sure to work in respect of the culture and interior design taste of the clients.
