IntelliCasa and City University London: Smart Lamppost Project

Earlier this year IntelliCasa was asked to participate in the newly launched MSc of City University ‘’ Internet of Things with Entrepreneurship” as an Industry advisor. Both IntelliCasa Directors Elie Kfoury and Konstantinos Karagiannis have proposed research topics for the MSc students related to the IoT and among them, Mr Kfoury’s exciting idea of the “Smart Lamppost” was selected as the programme’s main research project.

London officials are already taking measures to achieve a reduction in toxic emissions in the capital as shown by the recent Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) that came into force this week. Furthermore, the UK Government has mandated that all new cars sold in the UK should be pure electric by 2032. Thus, the paramount importance of accessibility and high demand will emerge the following years dramatically and the “Smart Lamppost” will serve this purpose.

The team has also participated in the “The Mayor's Entrepreneur" competition and has been selected from 150 projects for the semi-finals and now we will compete against other 30 start-up ideas. We wish the team good luck and we are proud that our project gained so much recognition.
